MS Dhoni Throughout his tenure as captain of the Chennai Super Kings, a position he continues to hold, and the Indian national team, has long been renowned for his leadership abilities and composed personality.

MS Dhoni Thoughts on Leadership:

MS Dhoni said “Loyalty comes with the respect factor. Unless the players and support staff respect you, you can’t be successful as a captain. It is about your actions rather than the words that define you. You may not speak much, but your conduct can earn that respect,” in a function organised by Single: ID, a first-of-its-kind cross-reward programme identifier.

MS Dhoni said that respect for a captain comes from deeds. “I always felt that earning respect is important as it does not come with the chair or rank. It comes with your conduct. People are insecure at times. Sometimes, even if the team believes in you, you are actually the first person who will not believe in you. To sum it up, don’t try to command respect but earn it, as it is very organic. Once you have that loyalty then the performance too will follow,” he added.

India has won the Champions Trophy, the T20 World Cup, and the ODI World Cup under MS Dhoni. The Jharkhand native even assisted his Indian Premier League team to a record-tying fifth trophy in the previous season.

Dhoni went on to say that in order to win a player’s devotion, it’s critical to comprehend their advantages and disadvantages.

“Some people can work under pressure, while there are a few who don’t like it. It is important to understand the weaknesses and strengths of a player. Work on the weaknesses without even telling a player that he is actually not that good in that particular area. It keeps a player confident without questioning himself. It is a job of a captain or coach to see what works for players.”
